I will say though, Teddy is a dream as always, and I do really like Lili as both an author (Masquerading with the Master & Good With His Hands) & narrator. I made myself finish this book because I paid $7.49 for it. Their emotional baggage didn’t really seem believable, and the whole addition of the pregnant ex (who is portrayed as absolutely nuts) who tries to trap him into being a family only to throw herself down the stairs so the baby “is born at the right time” was OTT in the worst way. There was just no build-up, no tension, nothing that made me root for them, even though I liked Mick quite a bit. They have one kiss, they’re both anti-relationship, and then like 6 weeks later they’re planning a trip for their eventual one-year anniversary? I’m usually a sucker for a good insta-love, but I don’t think this book was even trying to go that route. The pacing of this book felt way off to me. This book caught my interest right off the bat (it was Mick’s inner monologue about his crush, not gonna lie), but it very quickly fell flat. Lili is joined by Teddy Hamilton as narrators, and they are wonderful! They seem like such wonderful places I'd love to visit with some girlfriends. Who doesn't like small time love? Usually me, but Lili has won me over with several of her small town series. The supporting characters (main characters in previous books) play such a vital part in all these stories, you really get to know them, and I love that. When events from both their pasts come back to the present, possibly stalling.or ending their budding relationship. Both are taking their time getting to know each other.

Things seem to be going fine between Mick and Faith. Mick won't be deterred, and slowly, Faith comes around.a bit. Mick coaxes Faith to go on a date with him, and although they had a great time, Faith was still a little skiddish. Mick has always liked Faith, but he's had a bit of love gone bad in his past, and he's in no rush to start falling in love. Sure, she noticed how hot Mick was when she'd see him around time, but she was busy working as the town's lone firewoman. Having seen the heartbreak side of love, Faith wanted no parts of it. Mick loved it, but it scared the crap out of Faith.

Feels good to be back in Bliss River! Mick and Faith shared a kiss at a party.
